Welcome to our roundup of all of the events happening in and around the Yorkshire Dales over Halloween 2026.

You’ll find kid friendly spooky trails, pumpkin picking, ghostly quizzes, and so much more that’s going on for the kids over this Halloween season!

But not just the little kids! The older ones too!

I set up the Reluctant Explorers and maintain the website and attached social media accounts in my spare time, around mum-life and two jobs. It was designed to provide access for parents to free resources to help get more families outside and exploring in nature. These walks have all been created by myself and the kids and we have walked each one ourselves (and re-walk them regularly to keep the information as up to date as we can).

Birchfield Ice Cream Farm Pumpkin Festival

📅 Dates Running: Weekends from 26th September 2026 - then every day during half term until 1st November 2026.

📍 Summerbridge, near Harrogate

💰 Free to enter for the pumpkin fields (charges for pumpkins range dependant on size - card accepted)  The Farm is an additional charge of £8.95/ person (Under 2’s free)

This place is an annual Halloween staple for us! Grab your wheelbarrows and go, go, GO! We love that they have a huge selection of pumpkins, not just your good old fashioned orange ones, but green, white, nobbly bobbly ones and all as quirky as you like!

For an additional charge, you can enter the farm itself, see the animals, visit the pumpkin carving barn, play on the outdoor play equipment and inflatables and head round the woodland trail and go den building! Farm entry is not compulsory, so if all you want is pumpkins, then you shall just have pumpkins!

Dogs are not allowed on the pumpkin field or in the farm yard.

The Leeds Scare Trails: Golden Acre Park

🎃 No booking required for the Pumpkin Trail. The evening Frightmare Trail requires pre-booking (age restricted event) – tickets are on sale NOW!

🧒 Pumpkin trail is fun for all the family, Frightmare Trail is suitable for age 13+. Wellies a must as the trail can get muddy. Mainly sturdy pushchair friendly.

Frightmare Trail 24th October 6-9.30pm

📍 Where? Golden Acre Park, Bramhope, Leeds

💰 Pumpkin Trail – FREE. Frightmare Trail – Adults £14/ Under 16’s £10pp recommended for ages 13+ (any children under 13 require adult supervision)

A collaboration of the Ilkley Scare Trail and the Otley Zombie Apocalypse, this Charity Event is split into two different activities with the proceeds of the event going to charity.

The Pumpkin Trail takes place on both the Saturday and Sunday and is a family friendly event. With lots of games and activities to take part in, try and collect all the stamps to be entered into a prize draw at the end! The trail is mainly pushchair friendly, but can be muddy in parts, so wellies are a must! It takes just under an hour to complete.

The Frightmare Trail takes place on the Saturday Night only and is after 6 pm. The recommended age is 13+ and with lots of scare actors ready to jump out and make you scream at every available opportunity; it sounds like a brilliant evening out!

The Stockeld Park Playhive

🧒 Fun for all the family. Wear wellies, as the trails through the woodland can be muddy in parts, a lot of this will be pushchair friendly.

📅 Weekends in October until half term. Then 24 October 2026 - 1 November 2026.

📍 Near Wetherby, North Yorkshire (yes, I can hear your shouts from here! Wetherby is in West Yorkshire, but Stockeld Park is in North!!)

💰 Tickets range from - Tickets range from £21 per person. Zombie Laser and pumpkins are charged as extra.

As well as the usual park-based fun, there are plenty of Halloween Surprises in store for you at Stockeld Park! See the witches in the Enchanted Forest, go pumpkin picking or do zombie laser tag.

Thorp Perrow Arboretum Halloween Trail

🧒 Fun for all the family. Muddy paths, carriers and wellies!

📅 3 October 2026 – 1 November 2026

📍 Bedale, North Yorkshire

💰 Adult: £14.75, Child £9.75. Under 4s go free. Trail sheets are available to buy on the day (prices if booked in advance)

Not only is the arboretum stunning in Autumn, the spooky trail is lots of fun too! You will be lead all the way through the arboretum on a Halloween trail through the trees!

There is also a bird of prey and wildlife centre, and a play area too. The Cafe will be open for light bites, snacks and drinks. Did I mention that Thorpe Perrow is also a top spot for conker collecting?!

The Forbidden Corner Halloween

🎃 Booking Essential. Tickets on sale now on the Forbidden Corner website.

🧒 Fun for all the family, although having visited many times we feel that to get the maximum benefit from this attraction, it’s perfect from around late preschool/ primary school age upwards. Wellies are probably best, as well as a spare change of clothes. Yes, they will get wet! Not pushchair friendly. For our guide to the Forbidden Corner, check out our dedicated blog!

😱 One for the older kids aged 16+ - Forbidden Corner hold their very own live actor scare event ‘The Forgotten Corner’. 16th, 17th, 23rd, 24th, 30th, and 31st.

I mean isn’t Forbidden Corner the BEST setting for a Halloween spectacular?! If you have never been before, it is one of our favourite places to visit! In the week running up to Halloween there will be spooky trails, a quiz and creepy goings on in the weirdest place on earth!

Those attending on the 31st October can enter their fancy dress competition too!

Mother Shipton’s Cave Halloween

🎃 Booking is essential from the Mother Shipton’s website

🧒 Fun for all the family, wellies are a must! Pushchair friendly in parts, but to get to the cave there are steps, so pushchairs would have to be carried or left behind.

📍 Knaresborough, North Yorkshire

💰 £42/ car (Max 5 people) £16 per additional passenger. Under 3s are free. Pedestrian Entry is £16 per person. The admission charge is for a 2.5 hour time slot.

Bolton Abbey Pumpkin Trail

🧒 Definitely fun for all the family! Wellies and layers a must and the trail is pushchair and wheelchair accessible.

📍 Bolton Abbey, near Skipton, North Yorkshire.

💰 £12.50/ vehicle in advance of £15 on the day

The pumpkin trail is back over half term!

The trail runs through the Strid woodland, and trail sheets are available from the car park kiosks on arrival (no additional cost). We always enjoy this one!

Booking the Riverside Car Park is advisable and the Cavendish Pavillion will be open for light bites, cakes and drinks.

Fountains by Floodlight

🎃 Booking via the Fountains Abbey website.

🧒 Suitable for all the family. Wellies, or sturdy footwear and take a torch for the lesser lit areas.

📅 9th/10th, 16th/17th, 23rd/24th 29th/ 30th October 2026.

📍 Fountains Abbey, Near Ripon, North Yorkshire

💰 NT and English Heritage members will be free (but booking is still required). Adults £12, Children (age 5-17 £6) Under 5s free (no ticket required for under 5s)

Not technically a pumpkin filled, horror fest, but atmosphere a plenty, Fountains Abbey is hosting their annual Fountains by Floodlight event. As the night sky falls over the Abbey, watch as it begins to glow with light. Grab a torch and chase your shadows as you experience the abbey like never before…. Let those imaginations run wild!

Thornton Hall Country Park: Spooks and Screams

🎃 Pre- Booking is essential, and tickets are already on sale.

🧒 Fun for the family, particularly for younger children. Wellies are best! Bring layers too, it can get chilly!

😱 For older kids: Thornton Hall hold their terrifying screams events, which has live scare actors. Be aware that this is age restricted to 13+ with one attraction being a COMPULSORY 16+. The event is designed to scare and all under 18s must be with an adult.

Hesketh Halloween

Hesketh’s open for Halloween!

This has been a favourite of ours for many years, with their carving barn and Halloween grotto returning for October half term. But not just that! You can have some fangtastic fun on the farm, with the outdoor and indoor play areas, the tractor ride (weather permitting) and the animals!

Harlow Carr

Pick your own Pumpkin is back for 2026 at Mainsgill Farm Shop and it promises to be bigger and better than ever!

Mainsgill not only has pumpkins, but why not check out their animals, the play area and cafe too (as well as the incredible farm shop there!)

Go pick some pumpkins! And not just the regular kind that you find in the supermarket. They’re always better when they’re grown in their own pumpkin patch!

Billy Bobs Ice Cream Parlour

🎃 To eat, book a table well in advance, Billy Bobs is a popular place!

🧒 Fun for all the family. This is a family restaurant with play barns and an outdoor play area. Layers are a good idea as sometimes the barn can get chilly.

📅 The decorations will be going up from the 26th September until the 1st November. Events will take place at the weekends only and throughout half term too.

📍 Calm Slate Farm, Skipton, North Yorkshire

💰 Extra charges for the haunted trail (suitable for younger and older kids with options to avoid the scarier section) no need to book this, you can just turn up. The other activities are free and are open to diners and non-diners too.

In October, Billy Bobs will transform the restaurant into a Fall Haven, with plenty of photo opportunities and ……… well, Ice Cream, American Diner Style Food and all of the usual Billy Bobs fun thrown in for good measure!

Plus, the Bounce House! A giant bouncy castle and slide.

At the Skipton restaurant, you can meet Hilda the friendly witch, take the haunted trail, have the opportunity to take part in the candy scramble and enjoy some of their monstrously tasty Halloween Specials. With their fabulous play barns, and outdoor play areas, Billy Bobs is one of our kids’ favourite places to go eat.
