Heading to the pumpkin patch this year?

Pumpkin picking has become one of the Halloween staples for our kids. They LOVE to go and hunt down their own perfect pumpkins to carve! Luckily, with pumpkin patches growing in popularity, there are pumpkin patches popping up all over the shop!

Here’s your guide to all the pumpkin patches that you will find in and around the Yorkshire Dales National Park, the North Yorkshire bit as WELL as the Cumbria bit too!

Yorkshire Dales West: Nidderdale/ Harrogate

Birchfield Ice Cream Farm Pumpkin Festival: Summerbridge near Pateley Bridge

Birchfield Ice Cream Farm have an enormous array or pumpkins to hunt down in their Pumpkin fields. They have all kinds of pumpkins from teeny tiny, nobbly bobbly, quirky as you like to your good old fashioned orange variety.

Picking started on the 23 September and lasts until 31 October.

No booking is required. Pay for what you take away. You do not have to pay admission to the farm park to access the pumpkin fields.

Stockeld Park: Near Wetherby

Stockeld Park have a pumpkin picking meadow as part of their larger Halloween Event. The pumpkin picking is included free in every child’s ticket.

Event runs 21 & 22 October then 28 October - 5 November.

Pre-Booking is required. You cannot access the picking only.

Spilmans Farm Pumpkin Festival: Near Thirsk

The are over a hundred thousand pumpkins to choose from at the Spilmans Pumpkin Patch near Thirsk.

With experiences ranging from stripped back good old fashioned pumpkin picking, to evening sessions and family shows, there’s plenty taking place!

Booking required prices from £7.50.

Yorkshire Dales South: Skipton/ Ilkley/ Settle

Thornton Hall Farm: Thornton in Lonsdale near Skipton

Thornton Hall Farm have a mud free pumpkin field this year as part of their Halloween Event. Booking is required and the event runs 7 - 18 October & 21 - 31 October.

Do note that the pumpkin picking is part of the admission to the farm park, and that the pumpkins are charged extra.

Hesketh Farm: Near Bolton Abbey

The Hesketh Farm Halloween event involves some pumpkin carving in their decorated tent. No booking required.

Not srtrictly pumpkin picking, just pumpkin related. So it’s in, and there’s nothing you can do about it! No dates confirmed yet, but this will be a half term event.

Brookleigh Farm: Burley Road, Menston

Located on Burley Road in Menston Brookleigh Farm is holding a Halloween Trail and pick your own pumpkins too.

Pumpkins range from £3 upwards and there is a complimentary tea, coffee or soft drink on offer too.

Picking takes place on the 14th, 15th, 21st -28th October 2023. Booking is essential and tickets are £5 each.

Yorkshire Dales West: Westmorland Dales/ Sedbergh/ Kirkby Lonsdale

Lakeland Maze Farm Park

There is pumpkin picking available at the Lakeland Maze Farm Park as part of their Halloween event running from the 23 October to the 31 October.

This is included in the farm admission price, starting from £19.95. Booking is required


Yorkshire Dales North: Richmond/ Kirkby Stephen

Mainsgill Farm Shop, near Richmond

Mainsgill Farm shop’s pumpkin patch is returning this year, with pick your own pumpkins! Don’t forget to check out the animals, cafe and play area too! Oh and of course the farm shop!

No booking is required.


Yorkshire Dales Central: Bedale/ Leyburn/ Hawes

Fairhurst’s Pumpkin Patch, Leyburn

Located in Leyburn Fairhurst’s at Berry’s Cafe is holding their very first pumpkin picking event.

Mill Close Farm, Bedale

In Hackforth, Bedale, Mill Close Farm is holding their PYO pumpkins event, which promises a Halloween trail and activities alongside the farm shop.

The event takes place on the 21 October, 24-28 October and 30& 31 October. No booking is required.
