Want to pick your own Pumpkins this year?

Because I DO! And there are SO many options of places to go pumpkin picking in and around the Yorkshire Dales!

Pumpkin picking has become one of the Halloween staples for our kids. They LOVE to go and hunt down their own perfect pumpkins to carve! Luckily, with pumpkin patches growing in popularity, they are popping up all over the shop!

Here’s your guide to all the pumpkin patches that you will find in and around the Yorkshire Dales National Park, the North Yorkshire bit as WELL as the Cumbria bit too UPDATED for 2025!

I’ve even arranged them by area for you (I know how to treat you don’t I?!)

Yorkshire Dales West: Nidderdale/ Harrogate

Birchfield Ice Cream Farm Pumpkin Festival: Summerbridge near Pateley Bridge

Birchfield Ice Cream Farm have an enormous array or pumpkins to hunt down in their Pumpkin fields. They have all kinds of pumpkins from teeny tiny, nobbly bobbly, quirky as you like to your good old fashioned orange variety.

Picking starts on the 27 September, for every weekend until the half term. Then between 25th and 31st October.

No booking is required.

Stockeld Park: Near Wetherby

Stockeld Park have a pumpkin picking meadow as part of their larger Halloween Event. The pumpkin picking is a small extra charge.

Event runs 25 October - 2 November.

Pre-Booking is required. You cannot access the picking only.

Spilmans Farm Pumpkin Festival: Near Thirsk

There are over a hundred thousand pumpkins to choose from at the Spilmans Pumpkin Patch near Thirsk.

With experiences ranging from stripped back good old fashioned pumpkin picking, to evening sessions and family shows, there’s plenty taking place! Dates, 27th & 28th September, 4th & 5th, 11th & 12th, 18th & 19th and 24th - 31st October 2025.

Booking required prices from £5.50.

Yorkshire Dales South: Skipton/ Ilkley/ Settle

Thornton Hall Farm: Thornton in Lonsdale near Skipton

Thornton Hall Farm have a mud free pumpkin field this year as part of their Halloween Event. Booking is required and the event runs 5 - 31 October with selected days off.

Do note that the pumpkin picking is part of the admission to the farm park, and that the pumpkins are charged extra.

Hesketh Farm: Near Bolton Abbey

The Hesketh Farm Halloween event involves some pumpkin carving in their decorated tent. No booking required.

Not strictly pumpkin picking, just pumpkin related. So it’s in, and there’s nothing you can do about it! This is over October half term.

Billy Bobs, Calm Slate Farm near Embsay

Billy Bobs always does Fall y’all! And whilst it isn’t a Pumpkin Picking style situation, you can go and choose your pumpkins for carving. Admission applies and there is loads going on at Billy Bobs at Halloween so check out our full Halloween Events list!

Brookleigh Farm: Burley Road, Menston

Located on Burley Road in Menston Brookleigh Farm is holding a Halloween Trail and pick your own pumpkins too.

There is a Halloween trail, pop up cafe and pumpkin picking!

Picking takes place on the weekends from the 11th October, then during half term 2025. Booking is essential.

Skipton Spooky Trail and Pumpkin Patch

This trail is taking place in Skipton Town Centre on the 29th October 2025 and has a monster trail, pumpkin carving and Halloween Crafts taking place too!

Yorkshire Dales West: Westmorland Dales/ Sedbergh/ Kirkby Lonsdale

Lakeland Maze Farm Park

There is pumpkin picking available at the Lakeland Maze Farm Park as part of their Halloween event running every weekend from the 11 October to the and during half term week.

This is included in the farm admission price, starting from £11.48. Booking is required

Grange Farm, Casterton nr Kirkby Lonsdale

There is a PYO pumpkin event taking place that promises some spooky Halloween fun in the Western Dales! The patch opens on the 18th and 19th, 25th and 26th October 2025.


Yorkshire Dales North: Richmond/ Kirkby Stephen

Mainsgill Farm Shop, near Richmond

Mainsgill Farm shop’s pumpkin patch is returning this year, with pick your own pumpkins! Don’t forget to check out the animals, cafe and play area too! Oh and of course the farm shop!

No booking is required.


Yorkshire Dales Central: Bedale/ Leyburn/ Hawes

Peacock’s Pumpkins Bedale

Rand Grange Farm is holding their PYO pumpkins event, running on weekends in October, finishing on the 26th October.
