Walk Difficulty Ratings

All of our tried and tested kid friendly walks have been divided into 3 categories dependant on difficulty, length and terrain:

Little Monkeys:

Walks suitable for younger children. Shorter length walks with occasional pushchair access.

⭐⭐ Little Adventurers:

Walks suitable for pre-schoolers. Medium length/ difficulty walks.

⭐⭐⭐ Superstar Hikers:

Walks suitable for older children. Longer length walks with some difficult terrain.

This super circular starts and ends at the Red Lion Pub in Burnsall. It heads past paddling spots, swim spots, the stunning Loup Scar to yet ANOTHER pub or a fantastic tearoom in Hebden, it has a play area and more!

This walk is just brilliant. One of my favourite walks EVER! I like to call it…. The One With All The Caves (sorry, Friends reference!)

But it really DOES have all the caves! Jubilee Cave, Victoria Cave and mini caves with no name! So take your headtorch and become a true explorer!

We love a good old fashioned stepping stones walk! This one is located in Swaledale in the Norther reaches of the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

The river is super shallow around them so it’s a great place for a paddle and a picnic too! In Reeth, you’ll find a park as well as pubs and an ice cream parlour too!

We love Kettlewell! Located in the heart of Wharfedale in the Yorkshire Dales this walk will take you on a short walk to the stepping stones and back. It’s a great walk for a Summer’s Day with places to get down to the water’s edge to splash!

This circular walk starts and ends in the beautiful Dales town of Grassington, where you’ll also find a play park with skate ramps and plenty of places to eat and drink afterwards!

Linton Falls are a super popular stop off and are spectacular after heavy rain! Although…. if you do this walk after heavy rain, you’ll probably not get over the stepping stones!

This fantastic circular takes you from Linton Falls to the stepping stones and back!

📏 8 miles linear (there and back again) walk

📍 Clapham, North Yorkshire, Yorkshire Dales National Park

A walk with a wow factor!

This spectacular walk will take you along the Ingleborough Estate Nature Trail, past Ingleborough Show Cave, through Trow Gill and to an epic paddle spot just underneath one of the Yorkshire 3 peaks Ingleborough. But not just that, you can watch the beck disappear underground into Gaping Gill. And if all else fails, there’s a park at the end!

📏 Circular walk, less than 2 miles

Cauldron Falls is a stunning waterfall found at the top of another set of wonderful waterfalls in a beautifully wooded clearing in Wensleydale.

This walk offers a super short pushchair option (which is a really a walk to the waterfalls and back) or a longer version. Plus, it has a play area (with a pub opposite!) WINNER!

This 40 foot wonderful waterfall is well worth the walk from Hawes, where there is plenty of kid friendly stuff to do, including a PARK!

This circular walk from Kettlewell to Starbotton is about 4.5 miles and starts and ends with ice cream and a park! (Oh and the pub….. three pubs!)

There are paddle spots, a park and it’s dog friendly too!

This fab circular wander starts and ends at the pub and play park, has two famous waterfalls and has the option for a pub stop in the middle too!

This fab circular walk starts and ends in the town centre of Sedbergh and features the stunning Settlebeck Gill, where you’ll find perfect plunge pools for stone throwing and it’s secret waterfall. Easy to spot from afar, will you get up close?

Oh also…. park. There’s a play park and ice cream!

This fab circular walk starts and ends in the village of Dent. The walk is PACKED full of cool stuff for the kids, it features a waterfall, a small farming museum, ruins, paddle spots, ice cream, a park AND a vampire stone! You’ll have to read more about that in the walk details!
