Isn’t everything made better by ice cream?!

Sizzling Summer Walks with Epic Ice Cream?

If you aren’t all in with the promise of some of the BEST ice cream and ice cream parlours in the Yorkshire Dales then, what do you even DO in the Summer?! Finishing off a family friendly walk is only ever made better by a top class ice and so of COURSE I’m here with something that’s SO much better than a Mr Whippy!

Here are some of our fav Ice Cream parlours in the Yorkshire Dales. Partly because of their positioning and partly… well because they serve banging ice cream!

So yes, I WILL Be having a flake with that!

Aysgarth Falls and the EXCELLENT Gelato

Asygarth Falls are marvellous. Even in a super dry Summer, you will find SOMETHING exciting to do here. Whether that be fossil hunting when the water is low or marvelling at it’s total ferocity after a heavy downpour (it doesn’t take much to top it up). Yes, there’s a reason that Aysgarth is one of the most iconic locations in the Yorkshire Dales.

The trail here is pushchair friendly as far as the viewing platforms (you’ll just have to pop out for a closer look) is under two miles and is quite frankly epic in ALL the seasons (particularly in Autumn)

But did you know that behind the National Park Visitor Centre, you will find a cafe which serves the most EPIC gelato? Whilst it may be limited in terms of flavour choice, you will be given the most perfectly precarious swirl of ice cream that’s on a par with the Leaning Tower of Pisa.

And it’s delicious.

Walk the Aysgarth Falls walk by heading directly to it’s very own personal page! There, you’ll find all the need to now details about walk length, terrain, how easy it is to navigate, a map (where needed) and then of course ALL the bits that you can’t miss with the kids!

Devil’s Bridge in Kirkby Lonsdale

Kirkby Lonsdale and our favourite Ice Cream parlour

This is hands down our favourite ice cream parlour in the almost Yorkshire Dales! I say almost because this is an area of the country that is fiercely (and rightly so) Cumbrian.

So here’s a little bit before the ice cream (and the walk of course!) The boundary of the National Park lies pretty much along the riverside of Kirkby Lonsdale, so despite Devil’s Bridge being firmly within the Yorkshire Dales, the town is definitely Cumbrian and part of the Westmorland Dales.

But regardless of boundary, there are some things you need to know about Kirkby Lonsdale. It’s got an ace family friendly pizza place and tap room (for the kids and grown ups) The Royal Barn. AND…

It has the best ice cream parlour EVER, The Milking Parlour.

Which happily sits at the end of the riverside walk in Kirkby Lonsdale. It seriously had the option to pour melted chocolate into your cone.

I suggest you go there IMMEDIATELY!

STUNNING Aysgill Force near Hawes in Wensleydale

Waterfall walk that ends at the ice cream Parlour?

If you aren’t vigorously nodding your head right now, then we can’t be friends.

This stunning waterfall walk starts in Hawes and heads up to the neighbouring village of Gayle, where you’ll begin your epic waterfall hunt. Hawes is the home of the Hawes Ice Cream Parlour and to be honest, it’s the best way to finish your waterfall wanderings! With that and the cheese from the Wensleydale Creamery!

Waterfall, Ice Cream and Cheese. Could there be anything better?

(The answer is no.)

Ghaistrill’s Strid in Grassington

Grass Woods and EPIC Ice Cream

This walk to Grass Woods is one of our favourites and thankfully, it’s finished off by some epic ice cream action.

Grassington is up there as being one of the most well known places in the Yorkshire Dales. It’s where they film All Creatures Great and Small, it’s got such incredible community spirit and it’s got some pretty great Christmas markets!

And it’s also the home of Ockerby’s. Who have a whole hatch dedicated to ice cream.

And these guys win for having the BEST selection of toppings!

The lovely Loup Scar on the Burnsall Riverside

Beautiful Burnsall… just add Ice Cream!

Burnsall is another totally iconic place in the Yorkshire Dales with its very own ice cream parlour!

It’s tricky to choose just one walk, because we actually have three! One which takes you from Burnsall to the Craven Arms in Appletreewick, returning along the river. One which heads along Burnsall riverside to Loup Scar, before heading back into the village under Burnsall Fell and one which heads into Hebden, where you’ll find the play park and a stunning tea room!

So you decide which one you’d like, because they all end with ice cream!

Reeth is set is stunning Swaledale and this walk is an excellent stepping stone circular with the park and of course ice cream!

And at just over 3 miles, it’s also short and VERY sweet! Parking on the village green is by honesty box and then when you finish there’s the Brymor ice cream parlour on the green, as well as the pub!

Victoria Cave in Settle

Settle caves. An adventure with a super ice cream ending!

Settle is a super buzzing market town on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park and it’s the start of our Settle Caves walk. Victoria and Jubilee caves are set in the side of Attermire scar, which is an excellent walk from Settle.

It’s a true adventure, so make sure you take your torch to explore!

The walk ends in town where you’ll also find the Yorkshire Dales Ice Cream Parlour.
