All of our tried and tested kid friendly walks have been divided into 3 categories dependant on difficulty, length and terrain:

Little Monkeys:

Walks suitable for younger children. Shorter length walks with occasional pushchair access.

⭐⭐ Little Adventurers:

Walks suitable for pre-schoolers. Medium length/ difficulty walks.

⭐⭐⭐ Superstar Hikers:

Walks suitable for older children. Longer length walks with some difficult terrain.

This is a fabulously short reservoir walk perfect for the youngest kids! With bugs to spot and a play park in the village too what’s not to love?!

📏 4 miles circular walk

This walk takes you from the centre of Richmond to Easby Abbey, passing the fabulous waterfalls of Richmond Foss. You’ll also head past the legendary Drummer Boy Stone and at the end (ok also at the beginning…) there’s a park!

Oh and also ICE CREAM!

This walk is just brilliant. One of my favourite walks EVER! I like to call it…. The One With All The Caves (sorry, Friends reference!)

But it really DOES have all the caves! Jubilee Cave, Victoria Cave and mini caves with no name! So take your headtorch and become a true explorer!

📏 Less than 2 miles circular walk

Also known as the ‘three bridges walk’ (on account of it taking in all three of Ilkley’s bridges over the River Wharfe) there is plenty to keep little ones entertained for just a short walk! So check it out for a walk with stone throwing, a park, more stone throwing, ice cream, ducks, MORE stone throwing and many bridges to trip trap over (well…. three of course!)

A river that is paddlers paradise!

This is a fabulous little wander that will take you along Ilkley riverside and around Middleton Woods. You’ll find a park, plenty of stick dens, stone throwing, picnic spots and most importantly, paddling!

This walk will take you right past the spine tingling and atmospheric Middleton (or Myddleton) Calvary, and along Ilkley Riverside which is a paddler’s paradise!

Oh…. and there are ducks to feed and a park too!

Located in Otley, this is a top little wander, which you can connect up with a trip to the park and feed the ducks if you fancy making it a bit longer…. and there’s ice cream too!

📏 Circular walk, 2 miles (pushchair friendly is linear)

This super circular from Burley in Wharfedale to the stepping stones is one of our classic walks!

The stepping stones are a great place to stop and throw stones, there are geocaches, places to collect conkers in Autumn and it starts and ends in the middle of Burley where there is the park, cafes, pubs and even fish and chips!

This walk is under 2 miles and is great for very young explorers. It’s pushchair friendly, takes you along a river, a canal, you’ll see boats, the stunning mills of Saltaire, LLAMAS (sadly not real) and there is an awesome park too! SO MUCH TO SEE!
