Sailing paper boats on a waterfall

Making Paper Boats

This is a great walking game that is super easy to do and provides a LOT of entertainment for the kids when they are out!

But, you might not know how to make a paper boat, and that’s where I come in!

How to make Paper Boats

The At Home Bit…..

  1. The most important thing, is the paper needs to be waxed paper. The type of paper used for wrapping up sandwiches. Otherwise your boat will just flop and disintegrate!

  2. Check out the video below of how to make your own paper boat.

  3. Once you have enough for 2 teams of boats (or maybe three, dependant on how many take part!) pop them into a waterproof bag. It keeps them dry until you use them. They last longer that way on a rainy day! Don’t worry about it, if it’s dry!

The Outdoors Bit….

  1. Take your boats on a rainwater race! Water running into drains or excess rainwater in a field work well. JUST KEEP OFF THE ROAD!!! But if it’s not raining, then you could try this on a stream, or a waterfall, just make sure you have a ‘goalie’ to catch the boats before they disappear.

Top fun to get you out and about on a wet day! And the best excuse for a hot chocolate to warm up when you get home!

⭐ Always supervise children around water! Be aware that on wet days, water levels can rise rapidly and currents in water can be strong. Never enter wild water after heavy rain. ⭐
