Little North Field Glamping! What. A. PLACE!

AD PR Gifted Stay.

Have you ever been glamping? We never had until we were invited to come and stay at Little North Field!

Admittedly, my style of camping is very much bunting and fairy lights with a heavy dose of scatter cushions and cozy throws…. but glamping is another LEVEL of luxury! And WOW, were we in love with the Glamping Tents at Little North Field!

From the spacious safari tents, to the beautiful personal touches, Little North Field delivers a glamping experience that gives you the buzz of outdoors living, with a heavy dose of luxurious comfort!

I think it’s safe to say that after our Little North Field experience, we are in LOVE with glamping!

Where is Little North Field Glamping?

Located on Fountains Road in Bishop Thornton and a stone’s throw from both Ripon and Harrogate, Little North Field’s rural location is perfect for a getaway. Surrounded by beautiful North Yorkshire countryside, you are spoiled for choice as to where to explore from this wonderful hub! It’s the best place to switch off from the world and relax surrounded by the great outdoors.

Oh, and as if that’s not enough, it’s a few minutes walk from The Chequers Inn, which has a fab outdoor seating area, and tasty meals!

Using the wheelbarrow to transport those bags to the tent

Give a kid a wheelbarrow, and you’ll be able to sit back and relax whilst they enjoy transporting all of your baggage!!

So, tell us what it’s like at Little North Field Glamping?

Perfectly placed at the edge of a lush green field, (with PLENTY of running space), sit three luxury safari style glamping tents, Fox’s Den, Owl’s Hollow and Hedgehog Hideaway.

Each tent has its own sun deck, outdoor seating, fire pit and BBQ, so you can REALLY enjoy the al-fresco lifestyle, and perhaps enjoy a cheeky glass of wine whilst watching the sun set from your very own sheltered seating area!

At the edge of the field, you will find the Little North Field nature pond, with its own sun deck, outdoor seating area and summer house, so you can sit and relax and soak up the afternoon sunshine watching the wildlife that call this place home.

Idyllic right? You’d be right to think so!

What are the facilities like in the Glamping Tent?

My jaw dropped as soon as we set foot inside and that is no exaggeration! Little North Field have really thought about everything you need.

Each tent has two bedrooms, one king-size and one bunk with a single top, and double below. There is space for all the family! Each room has a place to hang and store clothes too, which is super handy to keep everything neat and tidy! But it’s not just about the practical stuff. Little North Field have really gone to town with the cozy factor, with each room swathed in fairy lights, each bed sporting cozy bedding, and hot water bottles and fluffy blankets to keep you toasty at night too!

Not just at night though! The living area has a log burner to keep you toasty on a cooler day, or to warm you up as the night draws in.

The kitchen, has everything you need for a staycation. Double hob, microwave, fridge with freezer compartment, and all the cookware and dining stuff you need! There’s even a coffee pot, to get a taste of some real coffee, whilst you sit on the sheltered sun deck in the morning air! And for those starry nights? Little Northfield have thrown in your very own s’mores making set!

Last but by no means least, each glamping tent has its own shower, toilet and wash basin. I always fuss about showers whenever we go away, and I can honestly say, this was one of the best!

With it’s personal touches and stylish interior, there is literally NOTHING we would change about this perfect place to stay!*

*Sigh….. writing all this is making me want to go back. And go back we would! I think that’s always the best indication of a brilliant time.

So, what is there to do with the kids at Little North Field?

So much thought has been put into everything at Little North Field, and keeping the kids entertained is one of them! Behind each tent is a storage box packed with outdoors games, so when the kids are not running races, or cartwheeling around the grass, or playing in the stick den, or studying the nature pond, or making daisy chains, OR checking out the fairy garden….. there is plenty more for them to do!

And if you’re out of ideas, check out the selection of nature inspired books that are provided in the tents!

Playing tennis at Little North Field Glamping

Game of sunset tennis anybody? There is SO much space to enjoy at Little North Field.

Ok. We’re sold! But we have some more questions….

If you choose to book (I mean of COURSE you want to!) Little North Field will provide you with an app with all the handy info you need to know to answer your questions before you check in. Like what to remember, a reminder of what is provided, where to eat, drink, visit and explore as well as all of the finer logistical details like how to get there and the arrival process (they really couldn’t make it any easier for you, the perfect start to a relaxing break!)

If you are visiting with the kids? Read on for some of our insider family friendly tips!

Cartwheeling across Little North Field Glampsite

WOO HOOOOOO! We love Little North Field!

Here are a few family friendly tips from our trip to Little North Field…

  • On arrival, there is a small parking area and wheelbarrows to help transport your stuff into the tent. The campsite is REALLY easy to find.

  • Once you’re in, cozy socks and snuggly jumpers are only going to add to the comfort factor! Remember you are under wood and canvas and at night, the tent may be chilly. The log burner will keep you cozy if you need it, but an extra thick layer and some thick socks will mean you are super toasty all night long.

  • Speaking of nights, we took a few games and books to keep the kids and grown ups entertained in the evening. Being honest, the kids didn’t actually need them because with the outdoor games, other kids to play to with, the nature area, day trips and fire pit, they were on the go from morning until night! But the grown ups definitely enjoyed a classic game of Uno after bedtime!

  • There is no Wifi on site, so this is a PERFECT place to get away from it all! However, if you do need to use the internet, there is some limited 3G/ 4G on the field (dependant on your network), and if you desperately need more, then The Chequers Inn has Wifi just down the road.

  • There are plug sockets in each of the tents, so if you need to charge anything (or straighten your hair!!) there are sockets for you to use!

Where can I visit from Little North Field Glamping?

I’ll be honest, when I was writing this blog, I started to list all of the places that are just down the road from Little North Field and I had to stop because there are JUST SO MANY!

So I’ve listed our Top 5 Places to Visit with Kids just down the road, then just a little bit further too… (because if I hadn’t limited it, there’s a decent chance you’ll be reading this until next Christmas! And even now, I’m feeling I need to add more…

Just down the road (15-20 minute drive)

Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Water Gardens: A stunning National Trust property, and one of the best preserved Abbeys in the Country! Oh yes, and the kids think it has the best adventure playground EVER!

Hackfall Woods: Read our blog about Hackfall Woods, a place that we explored from Little North Field during our stay. A brilliant Woodland Trust free day out.

Mother Shipton’s Cave: the country’s oldest tourist attraction, Mother Shipton is a legend! A visit here means you can explore her cave, the petrifying well and… well of course, the adventure playground (as well as the rest of beautiful Knaresborough!)

Brimham Rocks: another National Trust owned attraction, Brimham Rocks is LITERALLY nature’s very own weirdly-shaped-rock playground! We love it here, and would highly recommend it!

Birchfield Ice Cream Farm: do you like strawberries? Well you can pick them here in the late Spring. Do you like maize mazes? Well you can get lost in one during the Summer. Love sunflowers? Pick your own in September, there’s pumpkin picking in October too! Almost all year round, there is something going on at Birchfield! So along with your gorgeous farm animals, play areas, and of course ICE CREAM get yourself there!

Hackfall wood walking up the steps to Mowbray Castle

Mowbray Castle at Hackfall Woods, just one of the places that is less than 20 minutes from Little North Field!

A little bit further but worth a visit (around 30 minutes, maybe a little more)

Stockeld Park: this place is my kids’ favourite place! Play areas for miles, a maze, boats, seasonal trails, shows and activities, you will easily spend a full day out at Stockeld Park!

Stump Cross Caverns: located over in Greenhow at the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, we are MASSIVE fans of exploring this incredible show cave network! They also have a cinema for hire, and plenty of events on all year round.

Druids Temple: after a quirky wander packed with mystical charm? Head to this folly, built to resemble a stone circle, and Druids Altar over on the Swinton Estate.

Bolton Abbey: I think my kids have basically grown up at Bolton Abbey! Seasonal trails, welly walk obstacle courses, paddling, picnic potential, ruins, all in the glorious Yorkshire Dales National Park.

How Stean Gorge and Studfold Adventure Trail: see what I did there? I couldn’t decide what to include, so I just did both! These two attractions are next door neighbours, so in my mind, come as one! Studfold has an incredible fairy trail, and How Stean Gorge is a truly adventurous way to spend an afternoon!

Fox's Den in the moonlight

Snug as a bug. Fox’s Den in the moonlight!

So there you go, Little North Field Glamping in all its glory!

There is so much to say about this place, because we have so much LOVE for this place!
